Christmas and music go together. Most of us can’t imagine celebrating Christmas without singing “Silent Night” or “The First Noel” or “Away in a Manger.” This year we’re going to take an Advent journey through the songs of Christmas. We’ll start with on December 1 with “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and end on December 25 with “Joy to the World.” In between we’ll look at a different song each day. In making my selection, I tried to include most of our familiar carols, but I intentionally included a few newer songs, including “Breath of Heaven,” “A Strange Way to Save the World,” and “Matthew’s Begats.” Each entry includes a link to a YouTube version of that day’s song. Plus we end with a brief prayer.

This new Advent Devotional is absolutely captivating. Usually I FINISH Pastor Pritchard's Advent books before I write a review. This is the exception. I've read and listened to the first week of devotionals and I'm looking forward to the remaining "days". So why did I decide to review this one before completing it? I didn't want to rush through it! This is a very special devotional - the way it is written makes you WANT to slow down and savor each day. In this devotional, the author shares his insights in a refreshing, worshipful way. This was an excellent way to prepare for the Christmas season. The touching stories of the origins of a Christmas Carol a day, plus a link to listen to each, on the appropriate day, and a spiritual application for each. I looked forward to each day's carol. Great idea.
A Joy To My Workd!!! This book and accompanying music selections is a true joy and treasure to behold!! I cannot tell you how much this beautifully written and curated book means to me and has enhanced my experience of the true Spirit of Christmas!! During this hectic time , a few minutes a day spent in devotion and prayer utilizing this book truly brings me to the love and joy of the season and the tee meaning of Chrstmas!! Don't hesitate!!! To me, and the rest of the known world, a five-star rating implies excellence. Apparently, to , that isn't clear enough and one has to actually type a review that says, "The product was excellent". So, for the rule-bound review monitors at , this download was excellent. I'm pretty sure the 5-stars was more than clear for everyone else.
It's wonderful to have a book like this to prepare for Christmas. With all the busyness of the season, and all the commercial and secular messages bombarding us on every side, this is a wonderful opportunity to use Advent to focus on the real meaning of the season.
This is a must read if you have ever wondered about the origins of Christmas carols. I loved the fact that the author included links to the carols, so that they could be listened to after reading about them. The author includes a mixture of old as well as modern carols. The artists who perform the carols are just as diverse. I look forward to enjoying this book for years to come.
Loved this devotional - a history lesson on each carol along with an inspirational message. Loved the links to YouTube. Also introduced me to a few songs I had never heard before. As an active member of our church's music ministry, I thoroughly enjoyed this unique way of observing the Advent season. I highly recommend this book.
